The mechanica:

if the boss is the head of the business, the mechanica is the heart of the business.

liking the chef in a resturant if you would like more and more customer coming and coming again, you need a good mechanica.

(1) do not discount the quality about the mechanica for the labour hour
(some time you can hire the 17-19 dollars mechanica, but they can not do the big job, the 20-25 dollars is market price)

(2) good treating to the mechanica
some mechanica likes lions: if they like working here they can accept the lower paying but some time he got enough or unhappy he will go directly evern you offer high paying. some boss treating the staff like working mechine.

(3) most of the mechanica liking smoking & drinking, when he is tired during the work and making a break smoking don't stop them.

(4) a good mechanica need have ability to communicate with customer.

(5) the mechanica will suggest the boss how the job to do. and how many labour hours need, how difficult to do.

(6) the mechanica is  very tough job when they got sick and tired let them go to clinic or stay at home.

(7) Trying to find a friend and understanding mechanica.

It's me nickie ID 1301691 week eight 26th september I and buddhika summarize items for the boss and will write some more on the assignment later.


The boss

for the workshop the boss is the head of the business.

(1) running the business

(2) quotation the price

(3) chatting with the customers (this is very important) some time you need to remember all the name of the VIP costomers.

(4) looking and comparing the price

(5) firing and hiring an employee or reducing and increasing the labour hours

(6) arrangement for the jobs which is urgent and which is waiting

(7) barginning with the parts suppliers

(8) recommanding the customer to acceptting the price of the job

(9) laughing with the employees so let them enjoying work in here

(10) when there is a shit job happenning ( the boss need to cool down the customer and mechanical) one or two time per month

(11) Pushing the mechanic finish the job even it's 5:30pm the boss want to finish all job today so the customer can pay the bill today

That is my summarizing for the boss althogh it does not conclud all thing that boss need to do, most of the thing is on the list.

Laws or regulations in the workshop (Not writing on the paper)


To staffs inside the workshop:

(1)It must wear overall and boots and sometimes needs hat, glasses, mask. if you did not wear those safety equipment, you can not start the job.

(2)when doing the job in two people, everyone starts the engine or up and down hoist you need saying "clear".

(3)staffs can drink beer after five o'clock pm( friday after work) but can not drink beer during the work.

(4)No flame allow inside the workshop unless doing the welding.

(5)when you damaged the customer's car (tell them directly did not lie to customer) otherwise the problem will become bigger and bigger ( we call it bad luck ).

To the customer:

(1) The customer did not allow to enter the workshop (injury is workshop fault).

(2) when you finished the job, the customer has right to see the old parts when the mechanical  removed from the car.

(3) when you did any job, the customer need know the reason and has right to give you permission or cancel the job (a lot of argument for this!!!!!).

(4)Before customer paid the bill, you need to explain the invoice to the customer, any spending items on the invoice.

(5) After finished the job and the customer went away, but the problem on the car came back again or did not fix, the customer can ask solve the problem for free. (a lot of arguement for the issue)

(6) other person can not do his own job in the workshop.(only mechanica & boss)

(7) the customer can not see the part bill which the workshop purchased from the parts supplier.

(8) when the customer brought the car with problem and ask you to check it, it's better ask them to leave the car and check the car without customer.( a lot of argument for this!!!!)

those rules is basical for the workshop and customer, you can say this is not law and regulation, but in the workshop there are some special rules without writing on the paper, it is underground. it costs bad exprience, lost money and customer then achieve those laws and regulations.




next week I and buddihika did some research for the laws and regulations which are on the paper ( like wof ).

It's me nickie ID1301690 week six 14th september I and buddhika started for the laws and saftey in the workshop.

The saftey is top important in the workshop.

The workshop has a lot of hazard,dust,ash,strong light,smells. to prevent those you need some workshop equipment.

overall is basic for the staffs in the workshop.

it should be made of cotton, the nylon is not allowed.

workshop boots is different from other production, it got steel plat in front the shoe to protect foots from the impact.

first aid is basic saftey equipment for the wound and hurt.

the hand cleaning in the workshop is quite like honey and get some little grit inside.

 your hand inside in the workshop will touch the brake fluid, transmission oil,radiator coolant, gear oil, brake cleaning,degrease, etc, you need good cleaning for your hand, because those liquid will contain chemical, acid, alkali, using soap at home can not remove and kill those dust.

In the workshop for mechanical you need grift hand cleaning.

 Big heavy duty fire extinguish. in the workshop the fire is coming from the oil, fuel, so using the water is no usful, need using special one. and later I and buddhika will do some research for the extinguish about king, function and lifetime.

in the workshop you need three kind of glass, the right one is for you using the sanding mechanine, the left one is for you doing the welding.

the picture shows when I was doing drum brake cleaning, gloves, mask, third kind of glasses, heavy duty mask with filter, hat. you  maybe thinks I am crazy but when you smells the brake cleaning and how dirt of drum system, and brake cleaning spray everywhere easy to reach to eyes, looking ugly but heathy and safety.

the old  crankshaft seal is hard to taking off, so using the screw flat to make curve on the ring.

 and using the vice-grip pliers to pull it out

the vehcile is the isuzu big horn diesel turbo 3.1 L 1994, when changing the timing belt kit need to put on the hoist, during the job up and down, I did some part of job under the introduction of the mechanical. I never saw that kind of seal and that method to remove it.

The week five 7th September for the professinal practice TT6315.

This week I went to the workshop to observe the service and job. in the NewZealand the workshop can be indentify for the four group:

group one: mechanical, which is most popular in newzealand and for most job is concern with the mechanical, like brake, suspension, engine.

group two: electrical, because the electrical units is more complex and amounts is increasing inside the car there is more job start to moving from mechanical to electrical.
liking airbag, sensor, and the electrical labour fee is more expensive than mechanical. the mechanical is around the 80 dollar, the electrical labour is around 110 dollar per hours.

group three: specilist: liking the muffler, radiator, weilding. head gasket machining.

group four:  panel beater and painting this shop has bigger different from each other, because the equipment, rightnow some vehicle is made of aliminum and big job need chassis machince, so bigger panel shop can do any thing(painting room), small panel shop only can repair the bump and painting  something like that.

The work shop  what I am doing apprenticeship is mechanical type, but can do some  electrical job, the work shop foucsed on the motorcycle and car mechanical repaired.

the picture below shows one of job I done in the workshop testing the driverside switch unit.

next week I will write down more detail about job and service in the workshop.

and Mr Niranjian told us to put the location for the workshop. we accepted his suggestion.

I and buddihika will start to write down the detail for the part1 and continue to modify the items for the plan under the tutor introduction.

This week me and buddhika prepaired the rough menu for the assignment.

I and buddhika looked through the introduction about the TTEC 6315 and wrote down items form which contains all the items we will write down on the assignment.

part 1

Workshop: employee,boss, mechanical, part support, customer, job control, landlord, health safty, consumption supply.

Job process: talking with customer,quotation price, looking for part, arrangement job, finish test driving.

special support: deliver car, customer car, panel beater paint arrangemnet, disesel pump repair.

regulation: laws, wof, fire extinguish, safty boots.

part 2

MTA, land transfort, industry, financial,insurance,service,etc.

later I showed the assignment plan to Mr Niranjian and he did some modification on it.

He suggestioned us to put the part supplier, training (apprenticeship) to the part2 and regulation in the part2.

I and buddhika got the new plan compared with from the older one and decided to write the detail for each item from the part1.

Hi The second week for the assignment professional practice

Hi it's me Nickie ID 1301691 week two 17th August

I got a rough idea about the what is the professional practice, and talked with the classmate: Buwdhika. later we decided to talk with the tutor Mr Niranjian.

I and Buwdhika found the Mr Niranjian and tried to talk with him, but many classmates surrounded with him, after thirty minutes we found the choice to chat with tutor, Mr Niranjian understood what we wanted and gave us three pages to read said "first you need to read introduction and then talked with me".

The three pages is the TTEC Automotive Professional Practice Assessment introduction.

The assignment is contained with part1 and part2.

part1 is that you need create a blogger and find a workshop to do some research which it focuses on the inside of workshop.

Part2 is that you need investigate financial, skilled labour, insurance,etc about the workshop.

That is rough idea I got from the pages, Buwdhika and me will read through the pages carefully about the introduction, and then finding a workshop to start the assignment.
and write the plan about every detail for the assessment, after repairing the plan we will talk with the Niranjian next week.

It's me Nickie Id 1301691. for the week 10th August

Sorry about so later to creat a blogger for the assignment, maybe you can said me I am lazy, but in fact I did the research every week, I am rightnow doing the apprenticeship in the workshop, which named Takapuna brake&automotive. I was been there for around one and half years.

Each week I will write down some thing happened in the workshop, sometime I will write into email which I will to my girlfriend,because I like to tell good or bad and funny things when I got from the apprenticeship.

firstly the topic about this assignment I took me two week to understand, because from the word "Automotive professonal practice" I did not understand what is the meaning?

The next week I talked with the Tutor.
